It does if you go to a posh area!
There are much cheaper options.

I see they have whole foods in Paris as well now.

Yeah Rue du Bac is one of the most expensive place in Paris! I hope that burger was good though.

You want value? BHV across from the city hall. You’d get a proper meal for the price of the cheese burger. Free WiFi too!

Agreed. Most expensive city ive been to. Not that I travel all that much but still.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 08:03 |

Lol, this is why you don’t eat rue du bac, especially au saint Germain... there are tons of awesome bistrots in Paris that are much better and much cheaper than that.

Motherfucker, that's like $25 for a cheeseburger! I've been to restaurants in theme parks cheaper than that.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 08:05 |

It was average at most I've been to five guys that have better burgers than this place

I’m guessing you’ve not been to Oslo...
![]() 07/16/2016 at 08:09 |

That’s not too bad for Paris. Hell my little city in far northern England charges £12.80 for a cheese burger and £2.35 for 330ml Coke.
€17.99 and we certainly aren’t Paris.

You ordered the wrong food. Get a baguette and a bottle of wine. You can probably get out of there for $10.
Well, maybe not at St. Germain

How do you Europeans afford to live here! This is meal is like 8 usd where I’m from
![]() 07/16/2016 at 08:12 |

Try Tokyo bro. That place is brutal.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 08:14 |

I have not.

It’s an arty-farty bistro sort of eatery (like many of them these days).
Regular burgers from McDonalds are cheap (£3-4) and pub burgers and chips come in at £7 usually, gourmet pub menus are £8-10.
£15-20 (€18-24) per person is about right for a meal and a drink.

Exotic restaurants are always expensive lol

To each his own, but you’re in a country known for it’s amazing cuisine and you order a cheeseburger and a coke? Were you by any chance wearing a NASCAR t-shirt at the time?
![]() 07/16/2016 at 09:12 |

Anything remotely close to eatable in the UK is going to be expensive. Man, does this country suck hard when it comes to food.. Really, no idea how they survive there. Every time I go there I try to stay less than 24h, so that I don’t have to eat. If I have to stay more, I drink instead and eat fish and chips. But don’t you dare order anything, really ANYTHING else.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 09:14 |

Yes, but next time let us know before you eat, I’ll make sure to send you to good bistros and not... This :)
And by the way, when in France, no need to order cheese burgers lol, we have much better did than that :)
![]() 07/16/2016 at 09:29 |

That looks about right for where I am, although that amount would get you some fries too.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 09:37 |

You should try shepherd’s pie. One portion is enough to not need food for another two days.

Try Zürich as well if you want expensive.

Redneck in Paris confirmed
![]() 07/16/2016 at 09:42 |

No, no, just no lol... I know it and my goal is not to be fed for 2 days. It’s to sort of enjoy what I’m eating and Shepherd’s pie is not going to make me enjoy anything. Especially since I have yet to meet a Brit that can cook meat without making it taste like a shoe sole. :)

But seriously I had some amazing duck yesterday.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 09:45 |

Don't worry I had a croissant and a quiche this morning and had some duck don't know name :( all delicious.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 09:47 |

Fish and chips there are amazing everything else though...
Did you know they boil their meat? That's crazy!
![]() 07/16/2016 at 10:01 |
|
They freaking boil everything!! And if they don’t boil it, they steam it instead. I still have nightmares made of potatoes boiled with the skin floating around the poor thing, not even connected to it anymore. Going there is borderline torture for me thanks to their food. Worst is that I have to go there 5 or 6 times a year lol

Man, Paris is so overrated....I hate everything there. Traffic, sightseeing, the people....a lot of people know how to speak English but as soon as you ask them something, it’s ‘Ne comprends pas’. Ow really? No one in Paris speaks English? Well, excuse the f*ck outta me for not speaking that enormously ‘romantic’ language. It’s like arrogance rules the city.
Except for the food though. The French kitchen, and I mean the real kitchen, not cheeseburgers, is...wauw.....

They tax you for ordering American food there.

20 dollars a beer in Oslo near the harbor!
![]() 07/16/2016 at 12:09 |

That’s about the same price if not a little cheaper here on South Beach.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 12:20 |

For a quick lunch, you’re better off just picking up a baguette and finding something else from a local market - I found a vendor at an outdoor market that sold this awesome cured pork and was the only thing you needed with the fantastic bread.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 13:31 |

Is it really that bad?
![]() 07/16/2016 at 13:52 |
|
This is why when I am in Switzerland, I eat food bought in supermarkets, or maybe splurge on a cafeteria-stype department store cafe now and then. No $40 pizzas or $5 cups of hot chocolate (made from a mix) for me. Although the ~$30 raclette wasn’t bad, and I did have a $42 breakfast buffet once.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 14:59 |

No, of course not. I’ve been there at least a dozen times and survived the experiences.
I’ve also been to Italy, where many people really don’t speak English if you go away from touristy areas and I didn’t come back whining about the “arrogance” of people daring to speak their own language in their own country.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever actually been to Britain? You can get food of whatever ethnic origin you want, prepared whatever way you want.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 15:02 |

You must have been seen coming from a long way off!
![]() 07/16/2016 at 15:05 |

Ah, but that’s $8 plus the waiter’s wages plus various layers of tax.
In Paris, the bill is just what it says., €22.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 15:42 |

It was a Belted burger place but ye’, Brewers Fayre, etc... are only £2 or so cheaper.
![]() 07/16/2016 at 17:12 |

Worse than that, I actually had to live there for over a year, in different host families when I was younger. So I didn’t really have a choice food wise.
And you do find different types of food if you stick to bigger cities. Most places I have to go to only have a pub that does restaurant and it’s where I have to eat. It sucks, all the time the food is just utterly terrible.
But yeah, when I stay in cities like Southampton or Exeter, I usually go to Italian restaurants and get pizzas. They are not good by Italian restaurant standards, but at least I can finish my plates lol
![]() 07/17/2016 at 01:14 |

Since the tip is included(correct me if I’m wrong) in European restaurants, the price seems reasonable to that of its US counterparts

but have you had a cheeseburger they are freaking amazing.

i’ll bet the french do make a tasty burger.
